Join the Barba team

The Barba project provides a platform for storytellers in the Arctic within the broader context of nature conservation. Our greatest asset is the team members who join from near and far, bringing diverse skills both onshore and offshore.

Please note the following before completing the form

  • Take a quick look at our homepage to understand what we do, what we aim to achieve, and how you can contribute to improving our work and impact.

  • Show, don’t just tell. For example, if you’re a photographer or journalist, share your portfolio. If you work in social media, provide examples of your work.

  • We collaborate with a wide range of individuals, including sailors, storytellers (videographers, photographers, journalists), scientists, science educators (teachers), students, and those with influence and outreach.

  • The common denominator among Barba crew members is a deep commitment—to the environment, their surroundings, their team, and themselves. We strive for ambition, passion, respect, hard work, and a shared desire to make a difference.

Testimonials

Barba is a mere boat and fine-tuned machine for interacting with nature. What brings her to life, is her fabulous crew and onshore support team that enables us to tell the story in a spectacular way, sparking enthusiasm for the ocean and the precious life she sustains. The following are a selected few of the many exceptional individuals who have contributed to the Barba adventures.

“I spent three spectacular weeks onboard Barba in Arctic Norway documenting Orcas, a task for which she delivered as promised and beyond.”

– Tony Wu, Japan – 2015 & 2016 Wildlife Photographer of the Year

“Great respect for the Captain and crew of the Barba. Most impressed by safety first, and the overall knowledge of the Norwegian coast.”

Rick Rosenthal, US – Four-time Emmy award-winning filmmaker

“Working and filming marine mammals in Arctic conditions is an extreme challenge by any standard. However with Barba as a platform and Andreas as her Captain we not only were able to get never seen before footage. Most importantly, we did it safely.”

– Matthew Ferraro, US – Producer/Director, 15 years of work experience with the Cousteau family as Underwater Cinematographer

“Barba could very well be the best adventure-equipped boat in its category, in terms of equipment, philosophy and approach. And all those three are meticulously well-maintained, too.”

– Jaap van Rijckevorsel, The Netherlands, Sailor, World Champion Swan 45 class, 2015
